PERU & BOLIVIA TOUR – 13 DAYS

Lima – Cuzco – Machu Picchu – Lake Titicaca – La Paz – Salar de Uyuni

ITINERARY

Day 1: Lima

You will be welcomed by our staff at the airport and transferred to your hotel. During the ride we will tell you about Lima and Peru and go through your itinerary day by day. We will also answer any question you may have.

Day 2: Lima – Cuzco (B)

After breakfast, flight to Cuzco, we will be going to pick you up at the airport and transfer to your hotel. Free day to relax and acclimatize to the altitude.

Day 3: Sacred Valley (B, L)

Full day to Urubamba, better known as the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Sacred Valley is generally understood to include everything between Pisac and Ollantaytambo, parallel to the Urubamba river, or Vilcanota River or Wilcamayu, as this Sacred river is called when passing through the valley, also a visit to the village of Pisac and Pisac place; The village is well known for its market every Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday, an event which attracts heavy tourist traffic from nearby Cuzco; Pisac place are famous for the agricultural terraces, which sweep around the south and east flanks of the mountain in huge and graceful curves, almost entirely unbroken by steps, which require great maintenance to avoid erosion. Enjoy a great buffet lunch, after a visit to Ollantaytambo; which it’s the best surviving example of Inca city planning, with narrow cobblestone streets that have been inhabited since the 13th century. Return to Cuzco by the traditional Chinchero´s market. After accommodation in your hotel.

Day 4: Ollantaytambo –Machu Picchu (B)

Early departure start by Expedition train to Aguas Calientes, a Magnificent guided visit to Macchu Picchu; which means «Old mountain» often referred to as «The Lost City of the Incas» and mentioned as «One of the Seven Wonders», this fabulous city was built around the year 1450, forgotten for centuries, the site was brought to worldwide attention in 1911 by Hiram Bingham, a North American historian. Machu Picchu was built in the classical Inca style, with carved dry stone walls. Its primary buildings are the Intihuatana, the Temple of the Sun, and the Room of the Three Windows. Surrounded by lush cloud forest, the citadel perches in a mist shrouded mountaintop. After the tour, free time to enjoy this spiritual wonder. Accommodation in your hotel.

Day 5: Aguas Calientes – Cuzco (B)

As you know one day is not enough to explore the Machupicchu´s city (the price the ticket no included) in its whole, that’s why this is a great occasion to see Wayna Picchu (Young Peak); the most famous of several short walks, or the Intipunku (Sun Gate); which its where the Inca Trail ends, both give you a magnificent view of the whole Inca´s city. (Note: Wayna Picchu is open from around 7am until 11pm). In the afternoon you take the train back to Cuzco. You are picked up and transferred to your hotel.

Day 6: Cuzco – Puno (B, L)

Transfer to the Bus station along the route your will have 5 stops, opportunities to see alpacas and vicuñas in their natural habitat along with the marvelous scenery of the altiplano. Visiting the Sistine chapel of America, Andahuaylillas, and the wirachocha temple Raqchi-time for buffet lunch, a stop at the highest point, La Raya, 4319m, will also be made. And finally a stop in Pukara museum (Alternatively, you may fly to Juliaca and then transfer to Puno adding the difference of amounts). Reception and transfer to the hotel, free day to acclimatize to the 3800m setting of Puno.

Day 7: Lake Titicaca (B, L)

After a light, home prepared, you will take a continental breakfast, you will be picked up for your full day visit to the islands of Lake Titicaca, Uros and Taquile. Uros, a group of islands made entirely of Tortora reeds is home to a small community dating back to a pre-Inca culture. We shall spend some time with these local inhabitants before we continue on to Taquile, an island, whose culture is more closely related to the Aymara people of Bolivia.

We shall enjoy a locally prepared lunch on the island before visiting the local cooperative shop and witnessing at first hand the skill of the local weavers. Return to Puno and to your lodge.

(Even though, it is possible to stay overnight on the island in a family’s home. This is a very nice and special experience which we really recommend, keep in mind that the houses are very rustic still.)

Day 8: Puno – Copacabana – Sun Island – Inti Wata Complex – Chua – La Paz (B, L)

After a delicious breakfast we will pick up early land transfer to Copacabana´s Sanctuary, board the Catamaran Cruise Ship, you will be have a snacks on board while sailing to Sun Island, the legendary birthplace of the Inca Empire; Where you will visit the Inca Garden, steps and fountain followed by the Inti Wata Cultural Complex including the Ekako Underground Museum, the traditional medicine and the Titikaka Reed Shipbuilders display centers, the Pachamama agricultural Inca terraces, a handicraft center and tissues, the Intica lounge and at the Manco Kapac look out the largest variety of Andean camelids. Also, the Inti Wata Complex at Sun Island includes a unique sailing experience aboard a huge Titikaka traditional vessel for a panoramic visit to the Pilkokaina Inca Palace.

Day 9: La Paz city tour (B)

We pick up passengers from the hotel to visit the famous Witch Doctor’s Market and San Francisco Colonial Church. The tour continues to Plaza Murillo where the Cathedral, the Government Palace and the National Congress buildings are located. Then, we will visit the famous colonial street Jaen, where we find museums group, followed by a visit to the replica of the semi-subterranean temple of the Tiwanaku Culture. To change scenery the tour continues to the residential places of Obrajes, Calacoto and La Florida. The tour ends with a visit to the unique Moon Valley, where you will have the opportunity to walk around, and visit a ceramic workshop with a demonstration of the art of pottery.

Day 10: La Paz – Oruro – Uyuni (B)

Pick up from your hotel and depart in regular bus to Oruro. We continue by train towards Uyuni, arrival late at night. Reception and transfer to the hotel, overnight by accommodation and relax.

Day 11: Uyuni – Uyuni Salt Flat – Coquesa – Uyuni – Oruro (B, L)

After a delicious breakfast. Departure to visit the Uyuni Salt Flat and Incahuasi Island, this island is located in the heart of the salt flat and is the greatest of a group that represents an isolated ecosystem. The island is populated with a cacti specie that measures up to 12 meters high, adding the background provided by the salt flat, the panorama becomes impressive. The trip continues towards Coquesa village, where we have lunch after we ascend Tunupa Volcano to visit the Coquesa Mummies. In the afternoon return to Uyuni. Accommodation in a hotel and at midnight transfer to the train station to board the train to Oruro.

Day 12: Oruro – La Paz (B)

Arrival to Oruro in the morning and transfer to the bus station to board a regular bus to La Paz. Arrival and transfer to the hotel.

Day 13: La Paz (B)

After you will have a transfer to the airport for your international flight.
