Lima – Sacred Valley – Machu Picchu – Colca Canyon

ITINERARY

Day 1: Lima

Arrival and transfer to the hotel of your choice.

Day 2: Lima – Cusco.

After breakfast, flight to Cuzco, reception and transfer to your hotel. Free day to relax and acclimatize to the altitude.

Day 3: Sacred Valley.

Full day to Urubamba, better known as the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Sacred Valley is generally understood to include everything between Pisac and Ollantaytambo, parallel to the Urubamba river, or Vilcanota River or Wilcamayu, as this Sacred river is called when passing through the valley, also a visit to the village of Pisac and Pisac place; The village is well known for its market every Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday, an event which attracts heavy tourist traffic from nearby Cuzco; Pisac place are famous for the agricultural terraces, which sweep around the south and east flanks of the mountain in huge and graceful curves, almost entirely unbroken by steps, which require great maintenance to avoid erosion. Enjoy a great buffet lunch at the Alhambra Restaurant, after a visit to Ollantaytambo; which it’s the best surviving example of Inca city planning, with narrow cobblestone streets that have been inhabited since the 13th century. Return to Cuzco by the traditional Chinchero´s market. After accommodation in your hotel.

Day 4: Machu Picchu.

Early departure start by Expedition train to Aguas Calientes, a Magnificent guided visit to Macchu Picchu; which means «Old mountain» often referred to as «The Lost City of the Incas» and mentioned as «One of the Seven Wonders», this fabulous city was built around the year 1450, forgotten for centuries, the site was brought to worldwide attention in 1911 by Hiram Bingham, a North American historian. Machu Picchu was built in the classical Inca style, with carved dry stone walls. Its primary buildings are the Intihuatana, the Temple of the Sun, and the Room of the Three Windows. Surrounded by lush cloud forest, the citadel perches in a mist shrouded mountaintop. After the tour, free time to enjoy this spiritual wonder. A great occasion to see Wayna Picchu (Young Peak); the most famous of several short walks, or the Intipunku (Sun Gate); which its where the Inca Trail ends, both give you a magnificent view of the whole Inca´s city. (Note: Wayna Picchu its open from around 7am until 1pm, and you must return by 4pm). Accommodation in your hotel.

Day 5: Machu Picchu.

As you know one day is not enough to explore the Machupicchu´s city in its whole, that’s why this is a great opportunity to return on your own to view the sunrise and much more (note: the first bus departs from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu at 5:30am). Return to Cuzco in the afternoon by train and transfer to your hotel.

Day 6: Cusco – Arequipa.

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Arequipa, known as «The white city of Peru», Arequipa lies in the Andean Mountains, at an altitude of 2,380 meters (7740 feet) above sea level, overseen by the snow capped volcano El Misti. The city has many colonial Spanish buildings built of sillar, a pearly white volcanic rock, from which it gets the nickname La Ciudad Blanca (The White City). Transfer to your hotel. Free evening.

Day 7: Cayon Colca.

After breakfast, enjoy a magnificent trip to the Colca canyon, which is located about 160 kilometers (100 miles) northwest of Arequipa and known as «the second deepest canyon in the world» at 3400 m (11,155 ft) deep. The Cotahuasi Canyon, located a few miles from there is the deepest canyon of the world at 3500 m (11,488 ft) deep. Also highlights of this trip are the landscapes of the volcanoes of Coropuna, Ampato and Sabancaya. Also We will make a stop at the highest point, Cruz of the Condor, where you’ll have the unforgettable experience of seeing many condors in their wildlife. Arrival to Chivay, the main town of the canyon in time for lunch. Transfer to your hotel, the Colca Lodge, located in the canyon itself. Free afternoon for personal leisure.

Day 8: Arequipa.

One day is not enough to enjoy this beautiful view, which is why we continue visiting the beautiful Colca canyon with its magnificent panorama. Transfer to Arequipa. Overnight accommodation at your hotel.

Day 9: Arequipa – Lima.

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the return flight to Lima and your connection flight home.
