Get off the beaten track and visit one of the archaelogical gems of the Altiplano. The Sillustani burial site is an amazing complex made up by huge cilindrical tombs where the Pukara Culture used to bury their elite. It is said the Incas conquered them in the XV century and continued building theses graves improving the technique. Nowadays it is still possible to obeserve well preserve tombs including some carving icons. This program also offer a magnificent scenary as the complex was built near a gorgeous lake called Umayo, a nice spot still venerated by the local people. Our trip also includes the visi to some local farmers who plant mainly potatoes and breed guinea pigs.
Description Tour:
09:00 hrs. Our clients are collected from their hotels and then are conducted to the western part of Puno. The bus ride to Sillustani lasts about 30 minutes and offers along the way fine w¡ews of the Lake Titicaca. At the archaeological site of Sillustani, our local guide will show us the most important sectors of the burial site and will give us a good insight into the Andean culture. Our visit in Sillustani ends up with wonderful panoramic view if the Lake Umayo. Afterwards we will visit local farmes that live along the road. Here we will learn about the economical activity in the area, and also the farmers will explain how they plant their potatoes, breed their alpacas, vicuñas and guinea pigs. Finally we will return to Puno, getting after sunset. End of our service.
